Konya and our amazing sufi run hotel

We didn't know much about this hotel when we made our reservation except that people loved it and it is next to the Mevlani Museum.  What a wonderful surprise.   It was designed and is run by Sufis and their touch is everywhere.  As I write, the Call To Prayer is ringing out from several mosques.

The name of the hotel, Hich Hotel,  in Sufism means excellence.

Outside café for warmer weather.  Our room is the 2 windows on the lower right of the blue side.

Front entrance.  Our room is door on left.

Each room rather than a number has a word over the door.  Ours "Sifa" means healing.

This was a 300 year old house and they have kept the original woodwork and cupboards.  All of the art was done for the hotel with calming themes.

The view from our room - what I am looking at as I type - across the street is the Mevlana , as Rumi is known here, Museum.  The restful courtyard is part of the hotel separated from the street by the garden with tables and an iron fence. On the other side of the street is the garden of the museum.

Our room has a Sifa (healing pattern) rug - healing because it is formed by patches of 16 different carpets joined together as one.

Each room key is attached to a original key to the house.

Over the reception desk, each of these clocks has the time of an important religious city including: Mecca, Jerusalem, Vatican,  Varanasi (which we will visit in India in January) and the center clock runs backwards reminding of the abstract nature of time.

Stairway down to the room where breakfast is served and there is an extensive library of Sufi,  Rumi , and Konya literature there to enjoy.  .

Breakfast bar

This tray was served to the 2 of us

I love the milk hanging on the coffee cup (good coffee!)

Above is honey comb and butter, below a very small baked potato and cheese

Much has changed in Konya since our visit in 2012.  The road in from the airport is lined with new parks, picnic tables, new trees.   Unfortunately the 2 main tourist streets are closed to buses while they are building a new tram system.   That will limit somewhat our mobility.  We shall see.  I am just happy to be here.!
